Saila's Elephant Garden Nursery

Saila’s Elephant Garden Nursery

I wanted to create a simple but cute nursery for my daughter, and I knew I wanted flowers and elephants as a part of the theme. It took some time to figure it out, but the result turned out beautifully. In this blog, I’ll talk about the steps I took to make her new space beautiful and functional.

Designing and setting up a nursery for your baby girl (or boy) can be exciting and overwhelming. As a new parent, you want to create a space that is not only functional but also beautiful and comfortable for both you and your little one. Here are some tips on how I designed and set up my baby girl's nursery.

First and foremost, create a vision board. Before making any purchases, you must know what you want the room to look like. Search the web or social media for inspiration if you need help picturing the space. I used Pinterest to gather inspiration and create a mood board. This helped me determine the color scheme, furniture, and decor I wanted to incorporate into the room. I knew I wanted to do an accent wall behind her crib and mainly white furniture, so that was the first thing I started looking for. I was able to find all the big furniture and wallpaper on Amazon.

I landed on this beautiful floral wallpaper on Amazon that perfectly fit the look I was going for.

Next, consider the functionality of the room. Choose furniture that is both stylish and practical. I opted for a crib that can convert into a toddler bed, a comfortable rocking chair for reading and late-night feedings, and a large dresser that could fit a changing basket on top.

My husband and I decided to take the doors off her closet to open up the space, and we bought a cubed bookshelf from Target and turned it sideways to put it at the bottom of her closet for extra storage.

I also bought these two cube shelves. I intended to store books, but it didn’t work out that way, so I bought some storage baskets and used them under the window as a little bench to sit and store toys.

In terms of decor, I kept it simple with a few statement pieces. I added a personalized name sign above her crib, some floating shelves for books and decor, and some framed artwork. I also incorporated a few storage baskets from Target around the room to keep things organized.

Finally, remember the lighting. Soft, ambient lighting is essential for creating a calming environment for your baby. We installed the cutest woven overhead light and added a lamp on the dresser. Since most of our home is smart, we will install a smart switch to dim and brighten the lights as needed.

Designing and setting up my baby girl's nursery was a fun and rewarding experience. With some planning and creativity, you can create a space you and your little one will love spending time in.
